The display of your device becomes an interactive media page which can be subdivided, by a simple drag, into media boxes which may contain a photo or movie, labels and text.
The page layout subdivides a page into usual media units which can display an image, photo, movie or text. With the simple fact that each media unit can also have another page "behind" it, ad infinitum, the hierarchical organization is recursively established theoretically.
The hierarchical organization can be seen as having albums within albums or the usual folder structure but with the important difference that any photo, movie or text can be used to represent an album or folder. This enables content-guided navigation and the organization of content is fully integrated with the content. The intrinsic hierarchy is able to model any other organizational model, like for example sequences (just one media unit behind another) and the layout becomes a two dimensional dispatch area.
And like the album or folder metaphor it is only necessary to have one hierarchy with the ability to add a new element below and above, or in Luxflux terms, add a page behind a media unit and add a page on top of a page for organic growth.
And unlike albums and folders each navigational element can itself be a presentation element which enables the creation of standard slide sequences but, most important, non-linear presentation. The navigation gesture controls if the media unit is presented fullscreen or also navigated.
